Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) - Venice, Florida

A specialty pharmacy management group is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the launch and ongoing operations of a brand-new specialty pharmacy in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. This direct hire opportunity offers a key leadership role overseeing all pharmacy functions from build-out through patient care delivery. Location: Lakewood Ranch, FL Schedule: Monday - Friday, hours TBD Start Date: ASAP Key Responsibilities: Serve as the designated PIC, ensuring all state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA compliance, and accreditation standards are met Lead pharmacy build-out, operational setup, and the onboarding of insurance contracts Manage daily pharmacy operations, ensuring safe and accurate dispensing and high-quality clinical services Maintain and enforce policies regarding prescription processing, drug storage, and controlled substances Supervise and train pharmacy staff to uphold quality standards and compliance Coordinate with providers and clinics to optimize specialty medication access and patient outcomes Oversee inventory management, temperature-sensitive drug handling, and recalls Lead audits and documentation for regulatory inspections Support prior authorizations, benefit investigations, and appeal letter composition to facilitate medication access Drive strategic planning for pharmacy growth and clinical service expansion Qualifications & Experience: Prior PIC or Pharmacy Manager experience in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy settings (inpatient experience will not be considered) Licensed Pharmacist in Florida with an active, unrestricted license eligible for PIC designation Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree Expertise in specialty medications and strong knowledge of pharmacy software systems (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx, Therigy) Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal and written communication abilities, especially for provider relations and appeals Benefits & Perks: Competitive compensation range $135k - $150k Performance bonus Equity stake opportunity Unlimited PTO This is an immediate direct hire opportunity for a pharmacist ready to take ownership of a specialty pharmacy startup, work closely with clinical care teams, and positively impact patient care.
