Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Position Title Senior Academic Advisor, School of Nursing Classification Title Senior Academic Advisor Department School of Nursing Posting Number P260066 Posting Link Employer State Position Type UUP Professional Professional Appointment Term Term Salary Grade SL4 Posting Detail Information Position Summary The School of Nursing invites applications for the position of Senior Academic Advisor. The Senior Academic Advisor is a member of the Office of Student Services and reports to the Director of Advisement and Student Success. Primary responsibilities include: * Advise prospective intended first year, intended transfer, prospective major changers, and approved undergraduate nursing majors in the following settings: in-office, telephone, virtual. * Develop and implement innovative retention efforts to complement university enrollment and retention goals including collecting data and providing updates. * Manage grade review process for all intended nursing students and communicate next steps to impacted students. * Develop and implement communication plans to make at-risk students aware of alternative academic paths at UB to meet their career goals. * Develop and host informational sessions and presentations for potential incoming transfer students. * Participate in TAP and Excelsior review for intended nursing majors. Monitor and resolve instances where student academic progress might impact federal and state financial aid eligibility. * Respond to nursing program inquiries from prospective students and parents and address concerns of current students and their parents. * Supervise and direct work study students and student ambassadors, as necessary. * Participate in orientation, welcome events, accepted student days, and commencement as needed. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree required. * 3 years professional experience advising students in a education setting. Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs Administration, College Student Personnel Administration, or related field. * Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills. * Expertise with various UB IT systems, including HUB, Navigate, VZ Orientation, and Siri. * Supervisory experience.
