Effective collaborative problem-solving abilityEssential Functions:Understand, implement, and share all SASED and School District building policies and assist in the development of administrative processes and procedures.Ensure students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment in accordance with state and federal lawOversee and coordinate compliance with ISBE regulations and mandates, including IEP Compliance and implementation, maintaining accurate records, and sharing new information.Respond to the changing needs of education and the SASED member districts through a shared vision, innovative practices, and collaborative partnershipsCultivate and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders, attend, facilitate, and participate in stakeholder and Administrative meetings, and serve as a liaison between school staff, students and administratorsConsult with stakeholders regarding the total special education programming, procedures, needed program improvement and instruction, students, curriculum, social and emotional learning,in coordination with Assistant DirectorEvaluates achievement and placement of students in SASED ProgrammingProvide leadership for the design and implementation of curricula, student support services, and learning systems that support the learning goals of the SASED programs and individual needs of students.Assesses student needs and recommends and monitors student support program ensuring equitable opportunity for success for all studentsCollect and analyze accurate and current data to inform program improvement plans and ensure program efficacyConduct classroom walkthroughs, visitations, consultations, and observations to ensure program fidelityOversee the preparation and implementation of facilitated IEPs, including annual reviews, reevaluations, initial evaluations, and other meetings as necessary completing follow-up documentation and reportsDevelop and/or assist in the development and implementation of administrative duties related to curriculum development, instruction, social and emotional learning, program evaluation, budget preparation and management, classroom assignments, board reports, staffing patterns, teaching and staff the strategic plan, assignments, schedules, assistive technology, master scheduling,Conduct and plan regularly scheduled department team meetings, PLC's, GLT's for the SIIS team, student support service staff, PLC, and others as neededPromotes and models positive interpersonal relationships and ensure aligned rewards and recognition for staff and student achievementsSupport recruitment and retention of highly qualified staff in all areas.Maintain knowledge of current research and best practices in education through professional reading, membershipsDevelop and oversee systems to manage SASED's fiscal and business responsibilities, including cost-effectiveness, resource efficiency, protection of assets (equipments, supplies, AT, etc), and inventory management.Assist with the coordination and supervision of ESY Programs.Assist with and oversee all professional development opportunities.Develop and provide ongoing mentoring, orientation for new staff, and professional learning opportunities that develop skills and knowledge to staff across education and innovative practicesCoordinate, evaluate, and designate evaluation of certified and non-certified staff with program administrators and LEA's, specifically in the areas of the Transition program, the SIIS team, speech and language therapists, EL teachers, related services, itinerants, and diagnostic teams. and other other certified staff as assigned.Coordinate and evaluate Program Administrators and Assistant Program Administrators with assistance from the Assistant Director of ProgramsOther duties as assigned by supervisorPhysical Demands and Work Environment:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
