Duties The Intervention Specialist supports the TrueNorth mission and is committed to the possibilities in every learner, every day. The Intervention Specialist supports the mission by providing ongoing coaching and consultation, technical assistance, professional development, collaborative problem-solving and crisis management support to all members of the educational team. Core Competencies: * Proficient Communication skills * Effective Collaborative Problem-solving ability * Engages in Continuous Professional Improvement * Has Job Specific Skills required to meet essential job functions Essential Job Functions: * Case manage students on caseload * Facilitate IEP meetings * Provide individual therapy for all caseload students * Lead twice a week group therapy for classrooms * Collaborate with school staff to improve academic and behavioral outcomes for all students. * Effectively communicate and collaborate with educational teams, school administrators, students and parents to identify and implement evidence based practices. * Facilitate educational team meetings. * Provide professional development related to specific topics (e.g., Autism, Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Trauma-informed practices). * Locate and link resources based on student needs. * Provide on-going technical assistance to school personnel as it relates to improving outcomes for students. * Model evidence based practices in instruction for general and special education students. * Develop, select, and utilize appropriate assessment tools and effectively interpret and communicate results. * Conduct informal and formal assessment of student progress in learning and behavior. * Provide feedback in meaningful and timely manner * Problem solve system-wide; classroom and individual issues. * Make data based decisions to improve outcomes for students. * Support student growth that would lead to effective transitions back to a less restrictive environment and ultimately to successful post-high school outcomes. Qualifications Qualifications: Illinois Professional Educator License with a School Psychologist or School Social Worker endorsement. Recent experience working with students with significant social/emotional needs.
