ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTIONFounded in 1965, the Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc. (CPC) aims to promote the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American, immigrant, and low-income communities. Today, CPC is the nation's largest Asian American social services agency and offers more than 50 programs at over 35 sites throughout New York City, including early childhood education, school-age care, youth services, workforce development, community services, and senior services. (For more information, please visit: SUMMARYThe Healthy Families program at Waters Edge Educational Campus supports youth, adults, and families through a strength-based, holistic approach. Serving youth ages 14 and up, the program provides core services such as access services and family development coaching, along with additional support including education and career counseling, employment assistance, housing and legal assistance, parent skills training, and review of child support status. CPC's after-school programming complements these services with academic enrichment, cultural, and recreational activities, equipping participants with the guidance, resources, and skills needed for success in school and family life.JOB SUMMARYReporting to the Multi-Site Director, the Family Development Coach (FDC) provides holistic, strength-based support to individuals, families, and youth at Waters Edge Educational Campus and within the NDA 2 map as outlined by DYCD. The FDC works with participants to achieve their goals through outreach, recruitment, and the development and review of Family Development Plans (FDPs), while maintaining timely case notes and program records. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Provide individualized guidance and counseling, and case management services; maintain participant files/programmatic documents enter participant case notes and track attendance, outcomes and overall progress, including services received Assist and guide community members with their educational/counseling, emergency services, financial, and/or professional short- and long-term goals Document meetings with written progress notes, updating steps achieved, and to be taken toward meeting the goals identified in the FDP (Family Development Plan). Conduct community needs assessments to identify community member needs. Act as a liaison between CPC and both internal and external partners + develop new partnerships with a variety of services that will benefit our community members. Plan and facilitate career- readiness, college readiness, life-skills workshops and other topics relevant to the families served through the program. Coordinate the scheduling of guest speakers, internal and external services within program guidelines. Maintain participant files/programmatic documents and track attendance, progress, and outcomes Assist with recruitment, enrollment, and retention of program participants Provide support in overseeing homework help and tutoring services Connect families and youth with community-based organizations, NYC agencies, and other resources, and support programmatic activities for students at the campus. Refer to CPC's direct services and resources to youth and families. Comply with all NYSED policies and administrative procedures. Attend meetings and professional development trainings as required by CPC and NYC DYCD, including Family Development Coach certification training Collaborate with SYEP/WLG programs during the school year/summer and support as needed Maintain positive relationships with school leadership and community members Report to and fulfill other related duties as outlined by the Multi-Site Director Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree is preferred in education, social work, counseling or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth and community and experience working with diverse populations. Family Development Coach certification is required within 1 year of employment.Skills and Competencies: Must be culturally competent and provide services in manner sensitive to participants' cultural heritage and traditions, life experience, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Excellent written, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for working with immigrant and low-income communities, and youth/family development. Knowledge of MS office applications, especially Excel, and virtual platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and Webex. Knowledge of high school level English, Math, Science, and/or History subjects are a plus. Working knowledge of Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud applications are a plus. Willingness to travel to outreach/community events and internal/outside partnerships via public transportation.
