GENERAL SUMMARY: Schedule: Contingent, Rotating Shifts Location: Pharmacy Advantage, Rochester Hills The pharmacy intern actively participates in all aspects of the drug distribution system and works with pharmacists in providing clinical services for patients in his/her assigned area. In accordance with Michigan law, interns always work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Dispenses unit dose, intravenous admixtures, and other pharmaceuticals for subsequent administration to patients * Interprets physician medication orders and clarifies any unclear orders * Identifies and monitors the pharmaceutical needs of patients * Reviews patient charts and/or interviews the patient, physician, or nurse to obtain information for medication records and profiles. Reviews drug related information to identify potential problems regarding drug therapy and recommends appropriate solutions to those problems * Provides drug and poison information for patients, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals This posting represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and duties.
