Position Description Rosemead School of Psychology is searching for an experienced psychologist who is prepared to lead a dedicated team in addressing the mental health needs of Biola's student community while also overseeing the clinical training of doctoral students in psychology. The BCC serves approximately 600 students and 75 graduate trainees annually, including an APA-accredited doctoral internship program, as well as master's- and doctoral-level practicum trainees, all of whom provide services to both Biola students and clients from the broader Southern California community. This position reports to the Dean of the Rosemead School of Psychology and oversees a staff that includes a Clinical Services Coordinator; Director of Internship Training; Internship Supervisor; additional Staff Psychologist(s); four doctoral interns; adjunct clinical supervisors; one or more part-time postdoctoral residents; doctoral student staff therapists; and three full-time administrative support staff. The Executive Director is a strategic leader who provides vision, organizational direction, and administrative oversight for staff, programs, services, planning, budget, facilities, and center operations. Biola University is located in Southern California, in the city of La Mirada. The student population includes approximately 3,500 undergraduate students and 2,000 graduate students, with a mix of residential and commuter students. Alignment with Theological Positions The person who fills this position must personally agree with Biola's Articles of Faith and Statement of Biblical Principles and be willing to support the mission of the university as a Christian institution of higher education. Educational and Work Requirements PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program and licensed as a psychologist in California. If not currently licensed in California, candidates must be license-eligible and able to initiate the California licensure process immediately upon hire. This is an exempt, full-time position, 12 months per year, with four weeks of annual vacation. This position requires regular on-campus presence at Biola University in La Mirada, California. Essential Duties * Hire, onboard, develop, and mentor professional staff to provide high-quality, culturally responsive clinical care to Biola students and community clients. * Oversee the provision of clinical supervision and training for doctoral students and psychology interns. * Provide strategic leadership for the continued development of the Biola Counseling Center, ensuring alignment with the mission of Biola University and the training objectives of the Rosemead doctoral program. * Interpret, implement, and innovate data-informed and technologically supported best practices for client access, service delivery, and counseling operations while ensuring compliance with ethical standards, accreditation requirements, and California laws and regulations. * Provide consultation, education, and recommendations to campus constituents regarding student mental health, prevention strategies, and psychological well-being. * Collaborate closely with Student Development leadership and campus partners to support student flourishing and campus-wide mental health initiatives. * Provide budget oversight and fiscal stewardship for the counseling center. * Conduct regular team meetings to support planning, communication, professional development, and organizational health. Required Skills / Qualifications * Demonstrated expertise in leadership, strategic planning, program development, program evaluation, staff development, coalition building, organizational culture, and fiscal management. * Desired candidates will demonstrate an enduring commitment to the integration of psychology and Christian theology in the training of psychologists and to the faith-informed integration of Christian spirituality and psychotherapy, particularly for clients seeking integrated services. * Multiple years of post-licensure professional experience, including clinical and administrative supervision of mental health professionals and trainees, or leadership experience within a clinical training program. * Highly effective interpersonal skills, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to serve as a thoughtful and credible public voice for student mental health and well-being. * Experience supporting the psychological well-being of diverse college students, including provision of assessment services, individual and group counseling, clinical supervision, consultation, suicide prevention and intervention, crisis response, and community outreach. * Desired candidates will demonstrate a robust appreciation for psychodynamic, relational, and integrative approaches to psychotherapy, consistent with Rosemead's historical Christian and philosophical commitments.
