Job DescriptionCS MedicalJob Title: Senior Chemist Department or Division: Science Reports To: Director of Laboratory OperationsJOB TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIESAs a member of the Science team at CS Medical, the Senior Chemist position is responsible for developing and overseeing the chemistry aspects of projects and assays to support the development of current and future medical devices and products. Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Operations, the Senior Chemist works with laboratory staff and adheres to schedules to ensure project completion. Your first and foremost goal will always be the safety of yourself and other CS Medical personnel in the performance of your duties.JOB DUTIES: Research and development to help support and develop products and devicesLead product development projects Develop new scientific methods and assaysImprove and customize current products, formulations and analytical methods and processesCreate and write validations, test protocols, procedures, reports, and proposalsReview and evaluate analysis data concerning the needs, requirements, and operation for (test) project design and supportReview and evaluate scientific methods, procedures, data, and articles/journalsDetermine the relationships of chemical and physical properties, composition, structures and reactions of compounds using chromatography, spectrophotometry and spectroscopy techniquesPerforms applied scientific analysis and activities relative to the research, design and development of lab and field projectsOperation of Liquid Chromatography instrumentation (HPLC)Stay current and comply with various regulatory agenciesMaintain equipment, supplies, and chemicalsEnsure health and safety within the laboratoryReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSB.S. or B.A. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related disciplineMinimum of five years of experience in a chemistry or related laboratoryMinimum of five years with HPLC work and development of assaysMinimum of five years of product developmentAbility to lead projectsExperience working in a laboratory setting, analytical skills, sample extraction and analysis, titrations, experience with bioanalytical methods, HPLC, spectrophotometryAbility to interpret analysis from outside sources (example: HPLC, GC, validations, etc.)PC skills and ability to learn new software, systems, and programsAbility to effectively communicate and interact with technical staff at all levels in a team-based environmentDetail and quality orientedAbility to work independentlyWillingness to travel in the US occasionallyWorking knowledge of Quality Assurance and Good Laboratory Practices PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMasters in chemistry or biochemistryExperience with FDA, EU, EPA, and Health Canada submissionsMedical device experienceHPLC and GC experienceLiquid chemical sterilant and/or high-level disinfectant experienceAccountabilitiesProject deadlines are timely metResearch and development of new methods and assaysResearch and development for current or new productsRecording, analyzing and interpreting dataWrite validations, methods, protocols and reportsKeeping up to date with scientific and research developmentsMaintaining a safe work environmentLOCATIONThis position will be based at our Creedmoor, NC office.
