TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Length of position: 12 months Hours: FULL-TIMESUMMARY: Performs advanced and supervisory nursing functions to support the health and safety of students in a school setting. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and evaluating nursing programs and activities, providing direct care, and serving as a resource on nursing practices. Provides consultative guidance to school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student wellness. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of nursing staff, ensuring compliance with professional standards and policies. Operates with minimal supervision,exercising independent judgment, initiative, and decision-making authority.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Oversees TSD's Health Center and ensures compliance with all medically required, state and federal laws and regulations, and agency-mandated practices, policies, and procedures. Develops standards of care, triage protocols, and nursing care guidelines in consultation with the School Medical Director and executive leadership. Provides direct nursing care to students as needed to support health center operations and student well-being. Develops, reviews, and coordinates individualized care plans, including Special Education and residential health needs. Collaborates with designated staff to implement, deliver, and monitor medical and psychiatric services for students. Reviews medical records and patient assessments to verify accuracy, appropriateness of care, and compliance with established policies and standards. Participates in the planning, development, implementation, interpretation, and monitoring of school- wide health services operations, policies, and procedures, including consultation, training, and staff monitoring. Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates nursing programs and services using performance metrics and evaluation reports. Manages staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and support for student health needs. Assesses staffing needs, initiates recruitment processes, evaluates applicants, and recommends hiring of licensed and unlicensed health services staff. Compiles, analyzes, and interprets health services data and reports. Participates in health services budget planning and monitors ongoing expenditures. Participates in an on-call rotation, including weekend coverage, with other designated personnel. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact Minimum 5 years recent nursing experience Minimum 1-year previous supervisory experience Strong nursing skills and ability to serve as a resource to staff Sign Language: The ultimate required proficiency level for the position using the levels designated in the Signed Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) is ADVANCED. If hired with a sign language proficiency level below this level, you are required to participate in signed communication learning opportunities on a regular basis until you have achieved the sign language proficiency level assigned to your position. Desirable Qualifications: Proficient sign communications skills Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university Advanced Degree and/or Advanced Certification Experience in a residential and/or school setting, preferably special education Proficient computer skills Psychiatric experience Pediatric experience Knowledge of deaf culture Experience in client and staff education Proficient sign communications skills Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Attributes1.Clinical: Advanced scientific nursing principles, pharmacology, disease processes, public health, research methods, Nurse Practice Act.2.
