Clinical Lab Scientist

Job Summary: The Clinical Lab Scientist will perform laboratory tests, quality control, and instrument maintenance in a high-volume setting. The role requires expertise in Blood Bank, including type/screen and crossmatch procedures, and experience with Epic charting, Wellsky, and Immucor instrumentation. The position involves working with a large number of samples daily and requires rotating weekends and holidays.Location:Orange, California, United StatesResponsibilities: - Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures. - Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments. - Conduct type/screen and crossmatch procedures in Blood Bank. - Manage a high volume of samples (30-50 daily). - Document patient care and related duties in the Epic electronic medical record system. - Answer unit phone and directs calls accordingly. - Coordinate equipment/supply needs.Required Skills & Certifications: - ASCP-BB certification - Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical lab setting - Recent/current experience as a Blood Bank traveler - Experience with Epic charting system - Experience in a large hospital (300+ beds) - Trauma Level I experiencePreferred Skills & Certifications: - Clin Immunohem Sci certification - Teaching hospital experience - Experience with Wellsky and Immucor instrumentationSpecial Considerations: - Rotating weekends and holidays are required. - Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered. - Facility is able to call off once per two week pay period.Scheduling: - 4x10HR variable day shifts - Start times vary: 6A, 7A, 8A
