POSITION Surgical Scheduler Position Type: Temporary/Temp-Hire Schedule: M-F, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Assignment Length: Approximately 3-Months, possibly Longer. DESCRIPTION We are assisting our client, a reputable healthcare facility, in finding a dedicated and organized Surgical Scheduler to join their team. The Surgical Scheduler will be responsible for managing the scheduling of surgeries and related procedures, ensuring seamless communication between patients, surgeons, and medical staff. This role is vital in supporting efficient surgical operations and providing a positive experience for patients before, during, and after their procedures. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate and schedule surgeries and related procedures based on surgeon availability, operating room time, and patient preferences. Communicate directly with patients to confirm surgery appointments, provide necessary instructions, and address any questions regarding the procedure. Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical staff to ensure all required preoperative and postoperative information is gathered and updated. Maintain accurate patient records, including surgery details, scheduled dates, and required preoperative testing or medical clearance. Verify patient insurance coverage and work with insurance companies to confirm surgery approval Respond to patient inquiries regarding surgery dates, changes, cancellations, and preparation instructions. Ensure all medical tests, such as imaging or lab work, are ordered and completed in time for scheduled surgeries. Manage the surgical schedule, updating calendars to reflect changes, cancellations, or new surgeries. Assist with follow-up appointment scheduling and coordination post-surgery. Support the smooth flow of patients through the surgical department to minimize delays and ensure optimal efficiency. Maintain a high level of professionalist and confidentiality when handling sensitive patient information REQUIREMENTS Previous experience in medical scheduling or in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred Familiarity with medical terminology and surgical procedures is a plus. Proficient in using scheduling software and electronic health records (EHR) systems. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, medical staff, and insurance companies High School Diploma or equivalent required INDH
