The person in this position is considered an itinerant employee, traveling to different school sites within the district. An expectation of this position is to foster a culture of open-mindedness, compassion, and inclusiveness among individuals and groups.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Evaluate students' hearing and determine educational impact and make recommendations for accommodations and assistive technology when indicated to best meet the needs of the student.Maintain hearing aids, cochlear implants, ear-level and sound-field FM/DM systems, and additional equipment related to auditory access for students.Provide updates to teachers and staff working with students regarding any changes to hearing or amplification, such as a new hearing aid functioning.Communicate with outside service providers regarding student progress, equipment functioning, etc.Perform evaluation of hearing, hearing aids, cochlear implants and FM/DM systems as necessary.Participate in student evaluation/re-evaluation/IEP process as appropriate, including Child Find screenings.Provide informational and consultative services relative to the management of hearing disabilities and needs to the student, education team, family, related medical agencies, and community agencies.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:Document third party billing activities.Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education and ExperienceDoctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee will constantly be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer screen and keyboard. The employee may occasionally be required to squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation, climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, and lift/carry. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 5 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 10 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 20 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 100 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel around the district is required.
