This position is full-time, on-site in Nashville, TN. The Full-Time Faculty member in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across didactic, laboratory, and clinical education components in accordance with JRC-DMS accreditation standards. This role supports student learning, competency development, and professional readiness through the integration of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experiences, and clinical education oversight.ResponsibilitiesDidactic (Classroom) InstructionDeliver instruction in assigned DMS courses aligned with program learning outcomes and JRC-DMS standardDevelop, implement, and revise syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materialsEvaluate student academic performance and provide timely, constructive feedbackMaintain accurate academic records in the learning management systemLaboratory InstructionFacilitate hands-on scanning laboratories that reinforce didactic instruction and develop psychomotor skillsEnsure safe operation, proper maintenance, and effective utilization of ultrasound equipmentAssess student technical competencies using standardized rubrics and skill check-offsParticipate in the development and continuous improvement of lab curricula and simulationsClinical Education and Clinic VisitsSupervise, monitor, and evaluate students during clinical education experiencesConduct clinical site visits in compliance with JRC-DMS requirementsServe as a liaison between the program and clinical affiliatesSupport and communicate with clinical instructors regarding student performance, expectations, and remediationEnsure clinical documentation, evaluations, and competencies meet accreditation standardsRequirementsEducation Required: Bachelor's degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field (per JRC-DMS standards) Preferred: Master's degree in a related fieldCertification Current ARDMS certification in Echocardiography and one additional specialty (Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular). Experience Required: Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer Eligibility to teach in compliance with JRC-DMS and institutional requirements Preferred: Prior teaching experience in a CAAHEP-accredited DMS programExperience with laboratory instruction, clinical supervision, and student assessmentFamiliarity with HESI or other standardized sonography assessmentsExperience with accreditation self-studies and site visit preparationKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of sonographic principles, instrumentation, and scanning protocolsAbility to integrate didactic content with lab and clinical applicationStrong communication, organization, and interpersonal skillsCommitment to student success, professionalism, and ethical practiceAbility to work collaboratively within an accredited educational environment
