Job Description: School Psychologist Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND) Brighton, COFLSA Status: ExemptReports To: Dean of Student ServicesWork Days: Faculty Calendar, 2 Days, typical school day including professional development days/work days. Note: Position may be hired as a Full-Time split between each location. ACAND= .4 for 2 days and if ACADC= .4 for 2 daysEssential FunctionsEnsure the academic integrity of the school by overseeing the appropriateness of services and accommodations for students in specialized programmingConduct psychological assessments and evaluations to identify students' academic, emotional, and behavioral needsInterpret assessment results and develop intervention strategies to support students' educational and personal developmentCollaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needsProvide consultation to teachers, parents, and school staff on strategies to support student learning and behaviorWork as part of a multidisciplinary team to create a positive school environment and promote students' mental health and well-beingServe as a resource for school staff on topics related to child development, mental health, and effective teaching strategiesProvide short-term counseling and crisis intervention for students facing emotional, social, or behavioral challengesDevelop and implement individual or group interventions to address students' academic and behavioral difficultiesSupport students through transitions, including changes in grade level or family dynamicsDevelopment and implementation of school-wide programs to promote positive behavior and a safe and supportive school climateParticipate in professional development and continuing education to stay current with best practices in school psychologyMaintain accurate records of assessments, interventions, and consultations in compliance with federal, state, and school policiesAssist in the preparation of reports required by the school or district administrationComplete all required training and provide documentation as well as official college transcripts within 90 days of hire dateDemonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operationsDemonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English to effectively perform their job responsibilities and communicate in the workplacePerform other duties as assignedRequired Skills/Abilities:Education: Master's or Doctoral degree in Education/Psychology from an accredited programValid state certification as a School Psychologist (NCSP desired)Previous experience in a school setting preferred, with an understanding of classical education values and practices being a plusExcellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skillsKnowledge of state and federal laws related to special education and mental health servicesCommitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools Inc.Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-governmentKnowledge of classical education (or the willingness and desire to learn)Willingness to take responsibility for being on time and maintaining excellent attendanceWillingness to complete other duties as assignedPhysical Requirements:Able to lift up to 15 lbsAble to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height by bending or leaning in order to work with studentsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standingAble to supervise outdoor dutiesMandatory Background Checks: In alignment with our commitment to student safety, all candidates are required to undergo a comprehensive background check, which includes reviewing criminal records and may require fingerprinting.
