Job Description

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern will gain hands-on experience applying environmental, health, and safety principles within a production environment. This role supports day-to-day EHS operations, compliance efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives while working closely with the EHS Manager and cross-functional teams. The intern will contribute to projects that promote regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and a strong safety culture. Key Responsibilities:Support daily activities to ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and company standardsAssist with updating Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Lockout/Tagout procedures using Brady 360Participate in routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments in production and field service environmentsAssist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action trackingSupport the continuous improvement of the Field Service Safety ProgramTrack and analyze EHS metrics and assist with preparing reports and dashboardsAssist with maintaining EHS documentation, files, and recordsSupport regulatory compliance activities aligned with Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirementsAssist with development and delivery of EHS training materials and safety communicationsParticipate in emergency preparedness activities and safety meetingsCoordinate with cross-functional departments to support EHS objectivesPromote safety awareness by assisting with communications and follow-up on corrective actionsPerform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the EHS Manager Qualifications:Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related fieldExposure or coursework in environmental, industrial hygiene, or safety disciplines preferredBasic understanding of occupational safety principles and regulatory requirementsStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentWillingness to work in a manufacturing and field service environmentLegally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorshipThe Coats Company is an equal opportunity employer that evaluates qualified applicants without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, ancestry, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions), age, marital status, disability, veteran status, citizenship status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and other characteristics protected by law.Powered by JazzHR
