Licensed Optician

As a Licensed Optician (LDO), you'll guide patients in choosing the best lens options and fashionable frames to fit their needs. This role blends customer service, creativity, and administrative skills, allowing you to play a key role in helping our patients have a truly excellent experience in managing their vision care. WHAT WE OFFER:Competitive hourly wage based on previous experience6.5 paid holidays per yearApproximately 10 days of PTO within first yearFull slate of benefits to include health, dental, vision, and 401kGrowth and wage increase through company paid certification programESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist patients in the selection process of spectacles, providing education on quality choices, lens selection, and frame styling to fit their lifestyle and prescription.Calculate insurance co-pay based on insurance eligibility.Accurately enter spectacle orders; ensure timely delivery by monitoring status on a daily basis.Receive spectacle orders into system, verify order, notify patients, and schedule dispensing.Contact patients for follow up on progress of adapting to dispensed eyewear and prescribed contacts.Perform spectacle adjustments and repairs when necessary.Troubleshoot patient concerns with eyewear when necessary.Educate patients on the care of prescribed eyewear.Maintain inventory pertaining to all aspects of the optical retail area, including lab supplies. Report inventory as required.Maintain displays of optical merchandise.Monitor patient flow throughout appointment, properly communicating delays to other departments.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:A valid Licensed Dispensing Optician (LDO) license in the State of Ohio is required.High school graduate or equivalentREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Prior sales or retail experience is preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (per ADA guidelines):Physical Activity: Standing, Walking, Stooping, Grasping, Typing, and Manual dexterity. The worker is required to have visual and verbal acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 pounds from waist to shoulder, and 5 pounds from shoulder to overhead.Work Environment: Professional medical office environment.
