Responsibilities About Manatee Memorial Hospital (MMH): Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, has served the citizens of Manatee, Sarasota and surrounding counties for over 70 years. Part of the Manatee Healthcare System, the hospital has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval. The 295-bed hospital with over 800 physicians, residents and allied health professionals, offers advanced healthcare services in a caring and compassionate environment. Manatee Memorial Hospital also offers a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for babies with special needs. PGY1 Resident provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care by providing service excellence, clinical services, distributive functions, education, and a commitment to the department's mission through a residency program designed to meet the guidelines and accreditation standards of ASHP. He/she shall demonstrate leadership qualities, serve as a role model, and actively participate in development and revision of policies and procedures, evidence-based protocols/order sets, and quality/performance improvement projects. PGY1 Residents shall possess characteristics to successfully fulfill their responsibilities, including effective communication, flexibility, attention to detail, initiative, cooperation, and a high level of knowledge and skills applicable to their area of practice. He/she will regularly participate in interdisciplinary rounds/meetings, profile orders for medications, monitor patient's drug therapies, provide drug information, and initiate/modify drug therapy based on medical staff approved policies and protocols including nutrition support and pharmacokinetics. He/she will provide information regarding medication therapy in both formal and informal settings to healthcare providers, residents, staff, patients, and families. They will exhibit a profound commitment to the advancement of the profession of pharmacy through continued self-monitoring and development of their own performance. Core rotations will include internal medicine, cardiology, critical care, infectious disease, and management as well as longitudinal experiences in drug information, medication safety, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, pharmacy practice, and research.
