In this role, you#ll be a vital part of our clinical#team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. As the Histotech, you#will prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by Pathologist under the supervision of the Pathology Supervisor. You will prepare cytology specimens using thinprep and cell block preparations.# You will operate#computerized pathology equipment to prepare tissues and microscopic slides. What You#ll Do Technical: Determines acceptability of specimens, maintains positive identification, and resolves and documents any discrepancies.# Prepares histologic slides from tissue specimens for microscopic examination.Perform histochemical and immunohistochemical special stains. Perform quality frozen sections. Prepare cytology specimens using thinprep and cell block preparations.# Demonstrates technical expertise and competence for all assigned tasks.# Performs testing according to SOP. Equipment: Maintains extensive knowledge of instrument and equipment, including routine operation, proper working order, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. Quality: Performs, evaluates and documents required quality control procedures.# Performs quality assurance activities as directed by Supervisor. Evaluation: Uses good analytical judgment and problem solving skills to evaluate completed work.# Notifies Supervisor of problems and follows up as directed. Information System: Demonstrates a working knowledge of laboratory information system, including basic routines and other menus.# Training: Participates in training and orientation of staff. Inventory: Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory of supplies and reagents; ensures proper storage and disposition Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in alignment with Saratoga Hospital values Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support health, healing, and service excellence Perform clinical responsibilities with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency Use hospital systems and tools to document care and support operations Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and support patient and staff satisfaction Serve as a positive, professional representative of our hospital and community What You Bring A.A.S. Degree Histologic Technician Must be licensed as Histologic Technician by NYS Department Of Education or eligible.# Must obtain NYS Licensure within 12 months of hire date.
