Position Type: Community Education/OtherDate Posted: 3/17/2026Location: Administrative OfficesDate Available: 04/06/2026Closing Date: 03/30/2026District: Berkley School DistrictPOSITION OPEN: Kids Zone (Before/After School Care) Coordinator LOCATION: District Program SCHEDULE: 52 Weeks, M-F, 9:30-6:00 PM (30 minute unpaid lunch)SALARY: $55,000+, Commensurate with education and work experiencesSTART DATE: April 2026JOB SUMMARY: The Kids' Zone Coordinator leads the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the district's before- and after-school childcare program. This role ensures safe, engaging, and high-quality experiences for students while maintaining full compliance with state licensing requirements. The Coordinator provides hands-on support to program sites, develops and supervises staff, oversees enrollment and operations, and partners with families to deliver responsive, student-centered programming throughout the school year and summer.QUALIFICATIONS - One of the following must be met to serve in this role:Experience + Coursework: 1 year of experience and 6 semester hours (or 9 CEUs) in child care administration, education, or a child-related field.Credentials: 6 months of experience and a valid CDA, Montessori credential, or Michigan youth development associate certificate.Degree + Training: An associate degree or higher in any field plus 12 hours of MiRegistry-approved training in program management and teachingDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Compliance & Licensing OversightEnsure full compliance with all Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) childcare licensing requirements across all sitesManage and maintain all site licenses in the CCHIRP system, including renewals, inspections, and required documentation (incident, accident, injury reports, and action plans)Coordinate and attend all required licensing inspections; ensure timely submission of all documentationOversee and maintain compliance with the LARA fingerprinting systemManage MiRegistry participation, including staff onboarding, training compliance, and record trackingServe as a MiRegistry-approved trainer and lead required staff professional development aligned to licensing requirementsOversee Star Rating processes and outcomes for each site2. Program Operations & Site ManagementProvide direct oversight of all Kids' Zone sites (Pattengill, Norup, Rogers, Burton, Angell)Conduct weekly site visits to ensure program quality, safety, and complianceEnsure implementation of developmentally appropriate lesson plans at each sitePlan and oversee extended programming, including Midwinter Break, Spring Break, Summer Camp, and half-day enrichment experiencesManage weekly site count sheets and maintain records for licensing review3. Staffing & Human ResourcesRecruit, hire, onboard, and evaluate staffMaintain accurate, compliant personnel files for all employeesProcess and manage payroll using TimeClock PlusMaintain and update staff handbook in alignment with current licensing requirements4. Student Enrollment & Records ManagementOversee student enrollment and registration processes using ProcareMaintain accurate and compliant student records, including immunization documentationCollaborate with the billing department regarding tuition rates and exclusion notifications5.
