Description Position at Temecula Recovery Center $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER (SUD) LICENSED THERAPIST Temecula Recovery Center, a Generations Healthcare facility, is looking for a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Licensed Therapist to join our team. Position Overview: The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Licensed Therapist is a licensed mental health professional responsible for providing direct clinical services to clients receiving substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment in an inpatient detoxification and rehabilitation setting. This role ensures that services are evidence-based, trauma-informed, and aligned with regulatory and ethical standards. The Licensed Therapist plays a key role in assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and coordination of care to support positive client outcomes. Essential Responsibilities: Provide individual, group, and family therapy services in accordance with client treatment plans and level of care, maintaining an average of 20-25 direct clinical service hours per week, inclusive of group and individual sessions. Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations, risk assessments, and ongoing symptom monitoring. Develop, implement, and update individualized, person-centered treatment plans based on clinical presentation, ASAM criteria, and interdisciplinary input. Facilitate psychoeducational and process-oriented therapy groups using evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, ACT, relapse prevention, and motivational interviewing. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and communicate client progress, barriers, and treatment goals to the team. Complete clinical documentation in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. Assess clients for suicidality, homicidality, and other safety risks, and implement appropriate interventions when needed. Provide crisis intervention and clinical support within the milieu as needed to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Collaborate with medical staff, case management, and support staff to ensure integrated and coordinated care. Communicate with family members, loved ones, and support systems as clinically appropriate and in accordance with confidentiality regulations. Coordinate care with referral sources, outpatient providers, and community resources to ensure continuity of care at admission, during treatment, and at discharge. Complete discharge planning and discharge sessions to ensure clients have appropriate coping skills, transition plans, and follow-up resources. Provide clinical information to utilization review staff and assist with documentation needed for insurance authorization and continued stay reviews. Support other staff by offering clinical guidance related to client behaviors, boundaries, and therapeutic interventions. May provide additional clinical coverage or support for other team members as needed. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of substance use disorders, withdrawal management, relapse prevention, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and ASAM criteria for treatment placement and level of care. Understanding of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented treatment principles. Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to behavioral health treatment, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Strong clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention. Skilled in evidence-based modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and process-oriented group therapy. Ability to effectively manage crises and maintain composure in high-stress or unpredictable clinical situations. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to establish therapeutic rapport with clients and maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced treatment environment. Ability to manage time effectively and maintain a caseload consistent with program expectations. Ability to use business-related technology, including electronic health records and Office365 or similar programs. This position requires the successful completion of a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening as part of the hiring process.Education and Experience: Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology, or a related clinical field required. Active and unrestricted California licensure as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC required. Minimum of three years of experience or training in a substance use disorder treatment setting preferred; inpatient or residential behavioral health experience strongly preferred. Experience with crisis intervention, group facilitation, and co-occurring disorder treatment preferred.
