This direct hire opportunity is for a licensed Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the opening and management of a new specialty pharmacy in Lakewood Ranch, FL. You will play a key role in building out the pharmacy, overseeing regulatory compliance, and collaborating with specialty care clinics to optimize patient outcomes. This onsite position offers a chance to utilize your leadership skills in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy within a dynamic start-up environment. Location: Lakewood Ranch, FL Schedule: Monday - Friday, hours to be determined Responsibilities: Serve as the designated PIC with full accountability for licensure, controlled substance oversight, and regulatory inspections Manage build-out and operations of a new specialty pharmacy, ensuring all policies and procedures are developed and followed Onboard insurance contracts and maintain compliance with Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and accreditation standards Oversee dispensing accuracy, patient safety, and clinical protocol adherence Lead audits, documentation, and regulatory responses Supervise and train pharmacy staff to uphold quality and regulatory standards Collaborate closely with providers and clinic teams to support specialty medication access and adherence Investigate and resolve medication incidents with a focus on continuous quality improvement Manage inventory including temperature-sensitive drugs and recall procedures Support prior authorizations, appeals, and financial assistance to ensure patient access Participate in strategic planning for pharmacy growth and service expansion Qualifications: Current, unrestricted Florida pharmacist license eligible for PIC designation Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree Prior PIC or pharmacy manager experience, specifically in outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy (inpatient experience not accepted) Familiarity with specialty pharmacy workflows, medication benefits investigation, and authorization processes Strong leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate professionally with providers and clinic staff Experience with pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx) and EMR systems preferred; willingness to learn new technology Proactive, creative problem solver with a collaborative mindset Compensation & Perks: Competitive salary range $135,000 - $150,000 Performance bonus and equity stake opportunities Unlimited paid time off This permanent role offers the rewarding challenge of helping create a cutting-edge specialty pharmacy from the ground up.
