Radiology Cardiology CT Tech Location: Matthews, NC Onsite Flexibility: Onsite Contract Details Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 2 months Start Date: As Soon As Possible Shift / Schedule: 12 hour mids; 10 AM 10:30 PM either Monday, Thursday, & Friday or Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. 36 hours can be offered. Per unit needs scheduling. Job Summary The expected start date is based on Novant's schedule but is subject to change depending on class and trainer availability. Travelers may start on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week, and must be fully available with no other commitments to accommodate any schedule changes. Missing any portion of orientation may result in a delayed or canceled start. Novant will confirm the final start date on the Tuesday prior to the start week. Unit orientation includes 16 hours of unit orientation; orientation would be earlier in the day, 10 AM 6:30 PM when there are more people here to train. After that point technicians would be expected to run the machine on their own, but they would never be alone there is always a tech in the department with them if they have any questions. The unit will be 8 weeks only. Key Responsibilities Perform radiological imaging in adult acute care, ICU, and emergency department settingsUtilize isolation precautions in patient careDemonstrate management and lead experience in clinical settingsPrepare and/or administer contrast media safely and effectivelyImplement radiation safety protocolsStart peripheral IVs and perform venipuncture as neededPerform imaging studies of abdomen, pelvis, and chest both with and without contrast, as well as vascular chest imagingPerform head and neck imaging including carotid, head with and without contrast, sinuses, soft tissue neck, and trauma head studiesPerform spine and musculoskeletal imaging including cervical, lumbar, thoracic, and musculoskeletal trauma studiesOperate Siemens CT equipmentSupport busy outpatient and ED scheduleWork with pediatric and adult patient populations across all age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics Education Requirements BLS certificationARRT CT certification Required Experience Minimum 2 years of experience as a radiological/CT technicianUnit will accept 1st time travelersExperience in adult acute care, ICU, and emergency department settings required Required Skills Siemens CT equipment operation (must have)Isolation precautionsManagement and lead experiencePreparation and administration of contrast mediaRadiation safetyStarting peripheral IVsVenipunctureAbdomen imaging (with and without contrast)Pelvis imaging (with and without contrast)Chest imaging (with and without contrast)Vascular chest imagingCarotid imagingHead imaging (with and without contrast)Sinuses imagingSoft tissue neck imagingTrauma head imagingCervical spine imagingLumbar spine imagingThoracic spine imagingMusculoskeletal trauma imaging Preferred Skills PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) equipment knowledgeColorectal studies (rectal contrast)Heart imaging3D renderingMultiplanar reconstruction (MRP)Region of Interest (ROI)Aspirations proceduresBiopsies proceduresBrain perfusion studiesCT arthrographyDrainage proceduresMyelography procedures Work Environment / Physical Requirements Work setting includes adult acute care, ICU, and emergency departmentBusy outpatient and ED schedulePatient age groups include neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatricsAll types of patients and diagnosesScrubs required (Royal Blue); not provided by employer Work Authorization RTO (Return to Origin) 7 days maximum for AYA auto offer. RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR.No call requirement. No float requirement.Weekend requirement: It would be an 8-hour shift on a Saturday or Sunday if a weekend tech was off and coverage could not be found. The traveler would be off a day during the week and cover the Saturday or Sunday. The traveler would be given a 2-week notice if this needed to occur. About the Client Equipment includes Siemens CT systems. Unit systems include EPIC. If an interpreter is needed, iPad and Zoom are used.
