Communicate and cooperate with all students and staff members in a positive and professional manner, appropriately accepting praise and feedbackFollow rules and regulations of the district, school, teachers, and ancillary staff while taking initiative to maintain student safetyUnder the direction of the teacher or ancillary staff, provide instructional assistanceUnder the direction of teachers and ancillary staff, provide supplementary aids and services as described in an IEP, and conduct assigned activities such as behavior management, intervention support, classwork, monitoring, etc, to meet the needs of individuals or small groupsSupport students in a variety of settings, including locations other than the special education classroom, such as the library, cafeteria, hallways, bathrooms, general education classroom, and community-based instruction settingsBuild a respectful relationship with students by providing positive guidance, reinforcing appropriate behavior, redirecting inappropriate behavior, and making students' limits and expectations clear and positive.Properly implement behavior management plans, including crisis intervention procedures. This is likely to include physical management of students.Empathetically and respectfully interact with studentsWork well under pressure and in emergency situationsAssist in the preparation, implementation, and record-keeping of instructional activities under the direction of teachers and ancillary staffEstablish and maintain an atmosphere for learningAppropriately accept praise and/or feedback from other staff members and administrators.Willingly work with and assist others when requested or neededDemonstrate initiative, showing desire/willingness to work beyond routine assignmentsMaintain student confidentialitySupervise and monitor the physical condition of students with such conditions as diabetes and seizure disorders, and implement medical procedures as assigned by the supervisorConduct physical care procedures with students - including but not limited to feeding, showering, diapering, toileting, and transferring to/from wheelchairsAssist in extensive data collection related to behavioral analysis, physical function, and instructional progress as directed by professional staffParticipate in professional development, student staffings, program committees, and other meetings as directed by the supervisor, which may include after-hour meetings, including some mandatory requirements for certificate renewals, such as CPI training, CPR, and/or district-assigned coursesCare for instructional materials when appropriateEnter data and prepare reports on the computer as designated by teachers and ancillary staffMust demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance.
