A contract opportunity is available for a Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) to support multiple elementary schools within the Anoka-Hennepin School District. This role involves providing onsite behavioral support and collaborative intervention strategies for the 2025-2026 school year, from early January through early June. The position is based in Anoka, MN, with work hours typically running from 8:30 AM to 4:10 PM on Mondays, totaling approximately 18.75 hours per week. Key Responsibilities: Consult and collaborate with staff to develop and implement positive behavior interventions and support strategies tailored to student needs. Conduct functional behavior assessments to inform intervention planning. Reinforce positive behaviors using evidence-based techniques and de-escalate challenging situations effectively. Utilize restrictive procedures when necessary, following all safety and compliance protocols. Support creation and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in alignment with district and federal guidelines. Provide training and guidance to school staff on behavioral strategies and interventions. Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. Collect and analyze behavior data to guide decision-making and monitor student progress. Respond calmly and adaptively to crisis situations to ensure student and staff safety. Foster effective communication with administrators, educators, and families to promote a positive working environment. Preferred Qualifications: Valid Tier 3 or Tier 4 Special Education License, or certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Experience working in elementary education settings. Strong knowledge of positive behavior supports and crisis intervention strategies. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage a diverse caseload effectively. This role involves supporting four elementary schools across the district, allowing for varied and meaningful impact within the student community.
