Job Description

A school psychologist opportunity is available in Fenton, MI, offering an onsite contract position with a 35-hour workweek. This role supports early childhood through K-12 populations, with a current focus on the Head Start program (pre-K). The caseload averages around 60 students with mild to moderate disabilities. Key responsibilities include: Collaborating on the development and implementation of early identification and intervention strategies for students facing academic, social, or emotional challenges. Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate cognitive abilities, academic achievement, adaptive behavior, and social-emotional functioning to determine eligibility for special education services. Communicating psychological findings clearly and supportively to parents, teachers, and administrators to foster shared understanding and effective educational planning. Ensuring consistent application of special education policies and procedures across multiple school sites. Collaborating regularly with support staff and engaging in professional development to stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements. Performing additional duties as assigned. Candidates must hold a Michigan School Psychologist certification or Preliminary School Psychologist certification and provide university transcripts prior to district presentation. Previous experience in school psychology or a related agency setting is preferred. This position requires a professional comfortable working in an urban school district environment, familiar with the unique challenges faced by children in these settings. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of special education, particularly the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA federal regulations.
