The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center Specialty Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Gastroenterologist. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. Eligible applicants will be referred until all vacancies are filled. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Duties and responsible may include but are not limited to the following: * Both diagnosis and plan of care communicated to the gastroenterology patient both directly and documented in the CPRS progress notes * Follow up on the pathology on all GI biopsies performed at this facility and communicating these results to the patient * Admission, work up, diagnosis, and provision of non-surgical treatment including consultation for patients admitted or in need of care to treat general medical problems. * Provides collaborative care for Liver and Pancreas transplant patients including timely submission of required transplant referral documentation * Performs history/physical exam, assessment and care plan, and obtain consent for GI endoscopy procedures. * EUS procedures * Operates or directs the operation of Fluoroscopic equipment for a medical procedure. Responsible to assist in ensuring that the Gastroenterology service meets national (JCAHO) accreditation standards. * Will be actively involved in teaching residents and students, and will periodically direct Noon Conferences for their didactic training. * Participates in the educational programs for Gastroenterology and physician personnel as well as the medical staff, that includes minimum once a year Medical Grand Rounds presentation. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
