SLU, which also has a campus in Madrid, Spain, is recognized for world-class academics, life-changing research, compassionate health care, and a strong commitment to faith and service.JOB SUMMARY The Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injuries and assists with nursing tasks in the Student Health Center. This position works effectively with patients and families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Performs radiographic procedures as prescribed by a licensed providerOperates Digital Radiography (DR) equipmentDetermines proper technique through the selection of voltage, current, and exposure timePositions and instructs patients according to the proper treatment proceduresEnsures radiologist review is signed and properly uploaded into Electronic Health Record (EHR)Takes vital signs to assist with rooming patientsCalls patients to schedule X-Rays if requested by provider and follows up with resultsEnsures all maintenance and physicist reviews are completed on the machinePerforms EKG examinationsMaintains venipuncture and lab collectionsOrders supplies as neededCleans lab equipment and autoclave useMaintains vaccine compliance in the electronic databaseGives immunizationsPerforms other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of radiographic principles, anatomy, positioning, exposure techniques, and radiation protection standardsKnowledge of digital radiography (DR) systems and image quality standardsKnowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical office operationsStrong interpersonal/human relations skillsStrong communication skillsStrong organization skillsAbility to efficiently multitask in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work effectively and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary staffAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriatelyAbility to maintain accuracy and attention to detail under time constraintsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalentTwo or more years of related work experienceCertification in Radiologic Technology within 6 months of hirePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CertificationCertification or documented competency in EKG performance, venipuncture, and immunization administrationABOUT THE TEAMThe Saint Louis University Student Health Center offers a wide range of services, covering the basic cold to specialized care of preexisting medical conditions. We're here for you, whether it's a quick flu shot to keep you healthy, advice on vaccines before spending a semester abroad, or ongoing physical therapy to help you recover from an injury.This is a full-time hourly position, working 32 hours per week.
