TITLE: DISTRICT SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST REPORTS TO: STUDENT SERVICES DIRECTOR POSITION GOAL: To assist the academic development of all students including those with suspected or identified disabilities through a variety of methods. Evaluation of students with suspected or identified disabilities and preparation of evaluation summaries for the purposes of educational planning. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: * Master's Degree in school psychology or equivalent from an accredited university * Valid School Psychologist license from the Ohio Department of Education * Valid driver's license * Clean criminal background check TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 227 day contract. Salary established by the administrative salary schedule. EVALUATION: One Cumulative, written evaluation per year by the Student Services Director with input from the Superintendent and building principals PERFORMANCE CRITERIA * PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES: * Represents the district at meetings that are required or otherwise appropriate * Select, administer, score, and interpret assessments as appropriate for the area of suspected student disability * Participates in meetings and provides information concerning student academic ability, achievement, etc. * Serves as a resource person concerning students with disabilities for other school personnel * Interpret diagnosis to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents and students * Contribute to differentiated referral system through participation in Intervention Assistance Team * Contribute to the written report of the evaluation team, delineating the results of the psycho-educational evaluation and assessment for consideration in the development of the individualized educational plan for each child with a disability * Attends all necessary conferences (including student placement meetings) * Prepare and submit required reports and data on students and special education programs to the Student Services DirectorConsult with teachers, parents, and other educational personnel on matters relating to the education and/or mental health of children to ensure the provision of the most appropriate education program * Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, teachers, administrators, parents and the general public * Maintain an adequate system of documentation and record keeping * Serve as a consultant to the schools in the development of educational evaluation and accountability procedures, pupil and personnel policies, in-service activities, curriculum, and staff development * Assist in providing referral to and consultation with outside service agencies * Assist in early childhood, kindergarten, and gifted assessment programs * Make behavioral observations of students using structured behavior measures * Collect background data through structured interviews of school personnel or structured reviews of school records * Serves as a resource person in the writing of 504 plans * Establish and maintain a weekly schedule 2. GENERAL ADMINISTRATION: * Demonstrates a willingness to keeps abreast of current trends (attend workshops, in-services, in addition to reading journals, taking college courses) * Be dependable, neat, well-groomed and dress appropriately for assignment * Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance * Perform other duties as needed * Communicates clearly and concisely in written or oral communication * Establishes meaningful goals, including district goals, and sees they are carried out * Follows policies and procedures of school district in a positive manner * Serves as part of the team in the planning and writing of evaluation team reports and Individualized Education Program * Maintains confidentiality of information * Professional and friendly in dealing with students, staff, administrators and the public * Be a positive role model * Displays sound judgment * Be supportive of the staff, administration and school board * Properly operate and care for equipment and materials * Demonstrates a sense of loyalty to the school system and is proud of district accomplishments
