The Long Beach VA is looking for a Chief Registered Nurse for Spinal Cord Injury! This position will report to the Deputy Associate Director of Patient Care Services. Provides executive leadership and direct supervision over the following areas: The Tibor Rubin Medical Center Spinal Cord Injury Disorders (SCI/D) Healthcare Group is one of the 25 SCI/D Centers Hubs Nationwide in the VHA system. The VA SCI/D System of Care (SCSC) utilizes the Hub and Spokes Model of Care consisting of SCI/D Centers being designated as the Hub. The Hubs or Centers are given the responsibility of supporting the designated Spoke sites within a selected area or catchment area. The VA system of care provides a lifetime of care for Veterans with SCI/D. The SCSC maintains a National Spinal Cord Data (SCD) Registry. The VA SCI/D System of care utilizes the term "VERA credit" status to identify designated SCI diagnoses and is used for calculating workload and funding disbursement. SCI/D HCG is one of the largest of the 25 VA SCI Centers in the nation with 90 acute inpatient beds, 12 long term care beds, SCI Outpatient Clinic and Urgent Care, as well as the SCI Rehabilitation Program, Home Care and Telehealth Care. It is a fully integrated group using an interdisciplinary approach to assist Veterans with SCI/D develop capabilities needed to attain personal independence and lifelong health and well-being. The SCI/D HCG serves as the referral center (Hub) for the community and three associated SCI clinic "spokes". Responsible for the following duties: Assuring the care and service provided within the HCG is consistent with the SCI/D staff bylaws, rules and regulations; Ensuring that Professional Nursing Practice is consistent with the standards established by the VALBHS Associate Director of Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive; Developing strategic planning for the SCI/D Health Care Group that contributes to the VALBHS plan; Devising, implementing and evaluating SCI/D Health Care Group budget; Ensuring adequacy of individual treatment modalities prescribed for all persons served, including notation of contraindications and precautions developed with participation of interdisciplinary professional personnel; Providing oversight and direction through decision making processes related to admission and continued services for all persons served; Providing input and direction into medical issues of all persons served; Securing ongoing relationships with key stakeholders; Assuring performance improvement and systems redesign based on measured outcomes and evidence-based practice; Establishing policies and written procedures that identify functions and responsibilities of interdisciplinary personnel to ensure adequacy of treatment for all stakeholders.
