Enter Job Description... We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele) to join a fast-paced unit specializing in epilepsy monitoring and medical overflow. This role requires a strong nurse capable of handling high-acuity patients, including those with substance abuse conditions, in an environment similar to an Emergency Department. Key Responsibilities 1. Provide comprehensive nursing care to Med-Surg and Telemetry patients 2. Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to clinical changes 3. Perform IV insertion, blood draws, and medication administration 4. Serve as Charge Nurse when required 5. Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC (required experience within last 12 months) 6. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams 7. Float to other units as required 8. Ensure compliance with hospital policies and patient safety standards Unit Details 1. 17-bed Med-Surg/Telemetry unit 2. Focus: Epilepsy monitoring and medical overflow 3. High patient volume with substance abuse cases 4. Patient Ratio: 1:5 5. Staffing: 4 RNs + 2 Nursing Assistants Minimum Qualifications Education 1. ASN or BSN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Licensure 1. Active RN license (Ohio or compact state) Experience 1. Minimum 2+ years of recent RN experience 2. Strong experience in Med-Surg and Telemetry 3. Recent Charge Nurse experience required 4. Experience in fast-paced/high-acuity settings preferred Required Certifications 1. BLS (Basic Life Support) 2. ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) 3. NIH Stroke Certification Skills & Competencies 1. Strong cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation skills 2. Ability to perform IV starts and blood draws independently 3. Excellent critical thinking and clinical decision-making 4. Proficiency in EPIC EHR system 5. Strong communication and teamwork abilities Additional Requirements 1. EPIC experience within the last 12 months (mandatory) 2. Maximum 7 days RTO allowed at submission 3. Must be open to floating across units 4. Solid black scrubs required 5. Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis
