The Academic Interventionist will strive to provide all students with strategic English Language Arts and/or Mathematics support targeted to area(s) of need recognizing that partnering with instructional staff and/or advisors for individualized support may be necessary." The Academic Interventionist will use data-driven, research-validated and/or evidence-based practices to teach students essential literacy and numeracy skills. The Interventionist will monitor and track student progress and adjust curriculum, instruction, and strategies as needed, in collaboration with teachers & advisors, to ensure optimal student success and growth. The Interventionist will use and seek technology to assist in student learning and instruction when appropriate.Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following: Collaborate with the Director to develop mission-centered school goals, policies, and practices with regards to student outcomes.Develop, implement, evaluate, review school policies and practices including attendance, academic, and student conductLead and implement intensive small group instructional groups 1-3x per weekAssist in coordinating the supervision of middle/high school environments including orientations.Support staff with curriculum development, review, and facilitate professional learningDevelop and implement lesson plans and classroom/group activities aligned with Common Core State Standards that increase student growth in both ELA and/or mathematics ELA instruction will include: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing strategies, and language development Math instruction will include: number sense, math fluency, operations, conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoningEngage staff, students, families, and community members with WAVEWork collaboratively with WAVE Director, advisors, and WAVE staff to support students academically and behaviorallySeek out and/or conduct reading and/or math assessments for students grades 7-12thAnalyze qualitative and quantitative student data; create and track the efficacy of data-driven action plansCommunicate positively and professionally with students, parents, staff, district leaders, and community members to promote the school's mission, vision, goals, and achievements.Hold weekly check-ins with WAVE Director & participate in WAVE PQC meetings when appropriateHelp plan and facilitate staff meetings in ways that support the school mission and culture by revisiting common goals, using familiar protocols, and maintaining discussion normsWork to promote positive partnership with all district members of WEOCSupport the school's diversity, inclusion, and equity initiative community-wideOther duties as assigned by the DirectorRequired skills and qualifications: - Minimum of 1 year in a leadership role ( department chair, mentor, PQC member, etc.)- Exceptional organizational, communication, and collaboration skills - Mission-centered, equity-centered leadership skills and knowledge Highly effective pedagogy in English Language Arts and/or MathematicsEffective measurements of learning and assessment, including diagnostic, formative, summative, performance tasks, and project evaluation- Highly principled, collaborative, and reflective Knowledge of child cognitive development and learning styles Learning strategies that support all students in achieving high academic and personal growth- Tenacious work ethic and exceptional efficiency and attention to detail - Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality - Ideal candidate has three or more years of experience leading professional learningPreferred skills and qualificationsSpecial education experience/expertiseReading endorsement Math certification with experience in upper elementary/middle school curriculum contentAdditional details: Work the 210 school calendar of WAVE instructional staff, school day of 8:30 am- 3:30pm, plus evening events as scheduledAttend and represent the school during extra-curricular, student performance, parent engagement, and community events.Support WAVE focus across the curriculum, cross-disciplinary planning and inquiry-based learning within a focus on equity-centered, trauma-informed educationPosition Starting Date: As Soon As PossiblePer the WEOCFT Collective Bargaining AgreementWAVE Mission:The mission of WAVE is to inspire students of all backgrounds and experiences to achieve academic and personal success through their unique paths.
