American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with ECMO specialist experience for a night shift position at a Magnet-designated, Level III Trauma teaching hospital in an adult critical care setting.Job Details• Short-term acute care hospital setting with 672 staffed beds, designated as a Magnet facility, teaching hospital, and Level III Trauma center,• Adult critical care unit focused on complex respiratory and ECMO cases,• Patient populations include those with ARDS, aspiration, COVID, pneumonia, fresh tracheostomy, and ECMO-dependent conditions,• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (1830-0700), with occasional rotation to day shift (0630-1900) as needed,• Every other weekend required,• On-call required as needed for the department,• Floating within scope may occur within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals,• EMR: Excellian/Epic experience required,• Scrub color: Ceil Blue (provided by facility) or Olive Green (traveler's own),Job Requirements• Current RRT credential required,• Active state license required (pending license accepted, but must be active by start date); license required if applicable,• Minimum 2 years of RRT experience and 1 year of ECMO Specialist experience required; first-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 1 year ECMO Specialist experience,• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and PALS,• Adult critical care setting experience required,• Proficiency with ECMO machine operation is required,• Airway management skills required: endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal/oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy/suctioning,• Experience with bronchoscopy required,• Medication administration experience required: Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Mucomyst, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Tobramycin, and Xopenex,• Nebulizer experience required: cold, handheld, heated, ultrasonic, T-piece, and trach collar,• Oxygen therapy experience required: bag and mask, ET tube, HFNC, portable oxygen tank, protocol-driven ECMO, T-piece, and trach collar,• Ventilator management skills required: BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, inter-departmental and ambulance transport, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation,• Arterial puncture experience required,• Professional skills required: ABG interpretation, chest physiotherapy (including vest therapy), and drawing arterial blood gases,• 1 supervisor reference minimum required for consideration,• Excellian/Epic EMR experience required,Additional Information• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,• Pre-start modules are required prior to the assignment start date,• Travelers must have been separated from any permanent (staff or per diem) employment at this facility for a minimum of 3 months since their last shift worked before being eligible,• RTO is ideally no more than 5 days for the duration of the contract,• Schedule requests may be discussed with the hiring manager
