This includes Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, a Retirement Plan, Paid time Off, and Tuition waivers for employees and dependents.Position SummaryThe Staff Therapist II position involves direct service to UIC students (brief counseling/psychotherapy, group therapy, and outreach programming), consultation and liaison to faculty/staff/students, and the participation in supervision and training of Counseling Center postdocs, interns, and externs. This position will have important liaison responsibilities in service of our Black, African-American, Latine, Asian, international, and other underrepresented UIC students and campus communities. This involves continuing and expanding the work of: 1) fostering connections for students to mental health services and supports, 2) creating new spaces and programs that support mental health and well-being, and 3) assisting with training and education on mental health topics. This position also offers the opportunity to provide oversight of administrative areas as needed within the Counseling Center, which may include but are not limited to, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).Duties & ResponsibilitiesConduct psychological and career counseling, including assessment, crisis intervention, and case management services for students' personal, social, vocational and/or educational concerns consistent with Center policies and procedures.Perform consultation and refer students and their family members, staff, and faculty, as appropriate for mental health, medically-based, or adjunctive services within the university or the community.Utilize and contribute to research/data collection for the improvement of student functioning, Center's training programs and services.Provide educational/developmental outreach programming for students and university community to improve coping and problem-solving strategies and to contribute to a supportive and enhancing learning environment.Supervise and train unlicensed clinical staff as appropriate to discipline (this may also include pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, and/or social work trainees) with regard to assessment, evaluations, outreach, and group and individual treatment of Counseling Center clients to ensure that service and training objectives are met.Maintain ethical, legal, organizational standards, and multicultural competency in all training, service, and research activities.Position requires occasional evening hours and weekend duties; NO after-hours on-call responsibilities.Oversight of administrative areas as needed within the Counseling Center, which may include but are not limited to, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), Group Therapies, Mind/Body Services, Peer Support Programs, and Psychoeducation/Outreach.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assignedPerform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.Minimum Qualifications• Licensed in the state of Illinois at the highest level in the mental health field (Psychologist, LCPC, LCSW, or LMFTONLY). LPC and LSW licenses do NOT meet minimum qualifications and will NOT be considered for employment.• A minimum of one year of clinical experience post-licensure.• A minimum of one year of prior administrative experience.• A minimum of two years of experience in the provision of direct clinical supervision.• Demonstrated experience and ability to work as part of a highly cohesive and interdisciplinary team.• Experience with and commitment to working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
