Pay Rate Low: 28 | Pay Rate High: 35We are seeking a Chemist to support API manufacturing within a cGMP-regulated environment. This role supports R&D and production activities including synthesis, purification, and in-process testing within a global pharmaceutical manufacturing organization. Torrance, CA Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM PST 2-Month Contract (possible extension) Pay Rate: $28-$35/hr Start: ASAP Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain manufacturing and in-process testing equipment (HPLC/UPLC, lyophilizers, reactors, diafiltration systems, balances, etc.) Perform solid-phase and liquid-phase synthesis including API deprotection and cleavage Execute purification via chromatography and crystallization techniques Follow GMP documentation (MBRs, SOPs, STPs) and maintain accurate records Support raw material handling, inventory tracking, and QA/QC coordination Assist with deviations, change controls, and documentation updates Maintain lab cleanliness, equipment logs, and GMP compliance standards Support equipment maintenance, calibration, and cleaning procedures Assist in SOP/STP writing and revisions Ensure proper chemical handling and waste disposal Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field (or 10+ years experience in lieu of degree) 2+ years in biotech, pharma, or GMP manufacturing environment Hands-on experience with HPLC and UV spectrometry Strong understanding of cGMP and regulated lab operations Experience in fast-paced lab/manufacturing settings Ability to follow SOPs and maintain documentation independently Preferred Experience Peptides and/or oligonucleotide manufacturing Experience with GC, LC-MS, or similar instrumentation Solid-phase or liquid-phase synthesis experience Familiarity with ELN systems Experience handling hazardous chemicals in GMP environments This job description is a complete list of all desired skills, but not all are required.
