a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } Job Title: Specimen Technician I (SPT I) Location: Lewisville, TX Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension) Shift: Tuesday to Saturday | 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM Job Summary The Specimen Technician I (SPT I) is responsible for providing general operational support within the Specimen Processing Department. This role involves accurate data entry, specimen handling, and laboratory support functions in a fast paced, production-focused environment. The position is critical to ensuring quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Perform general specimen processing support functions including: A Station operations Pre sorting of specimens Pickup and delivery of processed specimens to laboratory areas Imaging and microfilming Centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens Accurately enter specimen and test information, meeting productivity standards of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour Handle specimens with confidence, accuracy, and within established turnaround times Learn and understand specimen types and test requirements as ordered by clients Comply with all regulatory and compliance requirements related to test ordering, which may change daily Maintain high quality standards to support customer satisfaction Adapt quickly to daily operational changes and shifting customer demands Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow all safety, compliance, and biohazard handling procedures Communicate effectively with team members and leadership Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and contribute to a positive team environment Demonstrate flexibility, including availability for weekends, holidays, overtime, and on call as required based on staffing needs Work Environment & Physical Requirements Production-based laboratory environment with strict productivity and quality standards Exposure to a biohazard environment while following all safety protocols Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time Frequent interaction with laboratory staff and other departments Majority of work typically occurs during night shifts, though assignment may vary Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Strong data entry skills and basic computer proficiency Ability to work efficiently in a high volume production environment Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to adapt to frequent changes and evolving regulations Preferred Qualifications Previous laboratory or specimen processing experience Medical background with familiarity in clinical laboratory terminology Previous hospital laboratory experience (preferred, not required) Experience working in a production or quality-driven environment Additional Skills & Competencies Strong communication skills across all organizational levels Ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance standards Flexibility and willingness to learn new processes and procedures
