The Pharmacist is responsible for the accurate dispensing of prescriptions and performing prospective Drug Utilization Review (DUR) in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. In addition, this position will oversee day to day operation of pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technician trainees and interns, provide patient counselling and assist the Pharmacy Manager with oversight of daily workflow to maintain operational output and meet patient expectations. What You'll DoReceive, verify and accurately dispense prescriptions in a fast-paced environment. Perform prospective Drug Utilization Review "DUR" in accordance with clinical and professional pharmacy standards. Exercises corresponding responsibility of a pharmacist to ensure medications are issued for a legitimate medical purpose by a prescriber acting in the usual course of their professional practice. Review patient Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, assess clinical appropriateness of prescription(s) in process, address and resolve patient red flags identified during review. Interact professionally with patients, peers and providers. Request and obtain clinical information and prescription clarifications as required. Provide clinical/drug information to Injured Workers Pharmacy's staff and clients. Ensure a clean, organized, safe work environment is always maintained, minimizing the potential dispensing errors to occur whenever possible that may result in harm to patients or harm to internal personnel at Injured Workers Pharmacy. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy is maintained, inclusive of providing required patient consultations for both prescription and over-the-counter medications. Participate in IWP's Quality Assurance Program, driving continuous quality improvements (CQI) and timely reporting of quality related events (QRE).
