Specialist, Store Design

The Specialist, Store Design, will play a key role in collaborating with the Project Manager to develop inspiring retail environments that reflect Build-A-Bear's brand identity and deliver an outstanding guest experience. Responsibilities: Design Execution: * Work with new store Tenant Coordinators and Architects * Creating 2D/3D visual presentation drawings & technical sketches to communicate concepts * Assist in creating floor plans, store designs, and fixtures for new concepts with challenging spaces * Create interior and exterior elevations for effective space management, fixtures, and graphic design Project Oversight: * Coordinating multiple store projects concurrently and monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery * Collect, evaluate, and respond to internal and external stakeholders on design adjustments * Effectively manage communications, weekly meetings, and follow-up coordination * Review of Tenant Design Guidelines to identify potential issues or opportunities during the design stage * Liaison with Tenant Coordinators at the beginning of construction projects to address design elements in accordance with the Tenant Design Guide ensuring the best possible results * Reviews blueprints and fixture & graphic orders for accuracy Maintenance & Operations: * Organizing design libraries and archiving assets * Support communication and project update presentations Executive and Interdepartmental Review * Update and maintain the Store Development Report * Maintains inventory database for used fixtures and stuffers Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in interior design, Architecture, Engineer, or related field * 3 years of experience in store design or retail space planning * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, PhotoShop or similar design software * Strong understanding of design principles, space planning, and construction techniques Preferred Qualifications: * 5+ year of experience with retail store design in a corporate or agency environment * Knowledge of sustainable design practices * Familiarity with ADA and building code regulations * Portfolio showcasing store design projects * Proficiency Auto CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp Behavioral Traits for Success: * Strong commitment to tasks being completed correctly and on time * Understanding and collaborative * Thrives in a structured environment * Comfortable making decisions in area of expertise * Communication style is factual and sincere * Willingness to follow established policies, processes, and procedures * Enjoys working at a somewhat faster-than-average pace Working Environment: * Typical office environment with climate control and sufficient lighting, ergonomic desk/chairs * Corporate Office located St. Louis, MO * Travel potential up to 10% * Lifting above 35 pounds * Available for occasional after-hours calls/meeting Your Performance Will Be Measured On: Your performance will be measured by your ability to achieve annual department objectives and corporate goals which include but are not limited to the following. * Design quality and innovation * Creativity in problem solving * Adherence to project timelines and budgets * Decision-making, judgment, and execution * Successful implementation of store designs * Feedback from internal stakeholders and store teams
