Apply today!JOB SUMMARY:Under the guidance and supervision of the Registered Nurse, participates as a member of the OR team in planning, preparing, and producing a safe and effective OR experience for patients undergoing surgery.SCHEDULE:Full Time, 4 - 10hr shifts weekly, 7:30am - 6:00pm, with a rotating day off.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepares and checks assigned cases for appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment necessary for each procedureFollows aseptic technique when opening sterile supplies, setting up cases, scrubbing, gowning and draping as observed. Reports any break in aseptic technique.Maintains an orderly back table and mayo stand during procedure following established routine set-up as observed.Assist Circulating Nurse in performing sponge, needle, and instrument counts; immediately reports discrepancies and/or corrections as documented and observed.Consistently demonstrates proper handling of instruments and equipment to avoid damage and loss as observed.Keeps surgeon preference cards up to date as documented and observed.Demonstrates an ability to perform scrub duties as outlined in procedure manual, as observed.Assists with application of dressings and transfers patient.Assists with general cleaning of room and sets up next case as observed.Demonstrates the ability to adapt to changes in the workload and work as part of the team to finish the schedule as observed.Assists other staff members with completion of routine duties of the department as observed.Assists with the orientation of new personnel as assigned.Maintains confidentiality of all patients, Center and physician information; respects the patient's privacy.Perform duties in a safe manner.Demonstrates an awareness of patient safety and proper body mechanics when moving patients or equipment.Checks assigned OR equipment before case to ensure proper functioning; immediately reports any inoperative or malfunctioning equipmentDemonstrates a thorough knowledge of departmental safety policies and procedures; participates in identification and evaluation of potential department safety problems and precautions as observed and documented.Adheres to department specific OSHA and infection control guidelines regarding health maintenance and infection prevention 100% of the time as observed and documented.May function as backup in the instrument room - must be able to wash, sterilize and wrap instruments.May take on extra responsibilities such as special projects, research, etc.Functions in the role of OR float team, working in collaboration with Charge and management team in decision making process and maintaining efficiency within the ASC day-to-day operations.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION:High school diploma or equivalent required.EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:Certification as a Surgical Technologist is strongly preferred.New Surgical Tech Graduates must obtain certification within (6) months.PA 2020 Act 80, Chapter 5 Surgical Tech Certification Requirement exemptions considered.BLS certification required or the ability to obtain within (1) year.Previous work experience in an Ambulatory Surgical facility or acute care setting:At least (3) years of experience as a Surgical Tech strongly preferred.Ability to effectively and efficiently make use of time and resources.Must be able to plan and organize work.Must have proficient computer skills.Must have professional and effective communication skills and be able to promote effective communication at all levels.Knowledge of medical terminology required.BENEFITS INCLUDE:**$5,000 SIGN ON BONUS**Competitive WagesMedical, Dental, Vision available on the first day of employmentDisability, and Life Insurance within 90 daysCompany-Paid Group Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability & Long-Term DisabilityPaid Time Off (PTO)401(k) plan and profit sharingCareer Advancement Opportunities Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
