Director of Memory Care

Civita Care Center at Newington - Civita Care Center of Newington is seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Memory Care to lead and oversee the activities and programming within our Memory Care unit. This role is ideal for a creative, organized leader who is passionate about enhancing quality of life for residents living with dementia through meaningful engagement and person-centered care.Position SummaryThe Director of Memory Care is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all therapeutic and recreational activities within the Memory Care unit. This role ensures programs are tailored to residents’ cognitive abilities, interests, and emotional needs while supporting Civita Care’s commitment to dignity, safety, and resident-centered care.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, implement, and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly activity programming specific to Memory Care residentsDevelop individualized and group activities that promote cognitive stimulation, emotional well-being, and social interactionSupervise, train, and support Memory Care activities staff and volunteersEnsure compliance with state and federal regulations related to Memory Care programmingCollaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including nursing, social services, and administrationMaintain accurate documentation, calendars, and activity assessmentsCoordinate special events, family engagement opportunities, and holiday programmingMonitor supplies and manage the activities budget for the Memory Care unitQualificationsPrevious experience in Memory Care, dementia care, activities, or therapeutic recreation requiredExperience in a leadership or supervisory role preferredKnowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementiasStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsCreative, compassionate, and resident-focused approachHigh school diploma or equivalent required; degree or certification in recreational therapy, activities, or related field preferredSchedule & CompensationFull-time positionCompetitive pay based on experienceBenefits package may include medical, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement optionsWhy Join Civita Care Center of Newington?At Civita Care, we believe meaningful moments matter.
