Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA)Trauma Bay/Ward/ClinicBrooke Army Medical Center (BAMC)- Level 1 Trauma CenterJBSA–Fort Sam Houston | San Antonio, TXMDPerm is seeking an experienced Trauma Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to support high-acuity trauma services at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), one of the Department of Defense’s premier Level I Trauma Centers.This role supports emergent and ongoing management of critically injured patients in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary military treatment facility.Position OverviewThe selected provider will deliver advanced trauma care in the Emergency Department, trauma bay, ICU, step-down units, medical-surgical wards, and the trauma clinic. Providers must be confident in functioning independently within the scope of practice and collaboratively within a trauma team environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide emergent management of high-acuity trauma patients in the ED and trauma bayParticipate in trauma resuscitations and facilitate urgent surgical interventionProvide care during trauma CT imaging for unstable patientsPerform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within scope of practiceManage patients in ICU, step-down, and inpatient trauma unitsProvide follow-up care in trauma clinicCo-manage patients with multiple comorbiditiesPrescribe medications in accordance with approved treatment protocolsEducate patients and families on treatment plans and recoveryCollaborate with trauma surgeons, emergency physicians, nursing, and specialty servicesParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and staff educationMinimum QualificationsFor Physician Assistant (PA):Graduate of an ARC-PA-accredited programBachelor’s or Master’s degreeNCCPA CertifiedCurrent, full, active, unrestricted U.S. licenseBLS and ACLS (AHA or Red Cross)For Nurse Practitioner (NP):Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner programNational board certificationCurrent, full, active, unrestricted U.S. licenseBLS and ACLS (AHA or Red Cross)Experience RequirementsMinimum one (1) year of experience in Trauma or Critical Care settingsMust have actively practiced within the last two (2) yearsAbility to function independently in high-acuity clinical environmentsSchedule & ShiftFull-Time | On-Site12-hour shifts (may extend up to 14 hours depending on acuity)Day shiftsCoverage includes Monday–Sunday rotationWhy Join MDPerm?MDPerm is a Woman-Owned Small Business specializing in placing high-quality healthcare professionals in federal and military treatment facilities nationwide.
