Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with OB/L&D experience for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital.Job Details• Work in a Labor and Delivery unit at a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations,• Unit includes 9 labor beds, 3 ORs, 4 PACUs, 11 antepartum beds, 4 triage bays, and 27 postpartum beds with a census of 2-14 on L&D,• Patient population includes laboring, antepartum, triage, PACU, and OR patients,• OB Surg Tech ratio of 2-3 per shift,• Core procedures include scrubbing surgeries, C-sections, and setting up tables for vaginal deliveries,• EMR is Epic; experience preferred,• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Dynamap portable vitals, bladder scanners, PCA pain management systems, and Glucommander,• 12-hour night shifts, 7P-7A, 36 hours per week,• Weekend rotation of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule,• On-call requirement of 1 night shift (7P-7A) every 2 weeks,• Holiday coverage required for one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1),• No floating required for Surg Tech role,Job Requirements• Minimum 1 year of OB Surg Tech experience required,• BLS and CST certification required,• License required if applicable,• Epic EMR experience preferred,• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration,• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN,Additional Information• Responsibilities include scrubbing C-sections and other OB surgeries, setting up sterile tables for vaginal deliveries, and stocking the unit,• Department support includes CNAs, a unit secretary (7A-11P), a house-wide call secretary (11P-7A), charge nurse, PICC team, RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and OB physicians - all available 24/7,• Orientation consists of 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation,• Surgical scrub color for L&D is surgical green with a scrub exchange system,• First-time travelers will be considered for this position,• Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an affiliated facility must be separated for at least 1 year before consideration,• RTO requests require manager approval,• Free parking is available around campus
