Summary: The Pharmacy Automation Coordinator is responsible for management, workflow optimization, training, troubleshooting and technical support of automated dispensing cabinets (ADC), including both Pyxis and Pyxis Anesthesia stations, for the Department of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Automation Coordinator is responsible for analyzing key performance indicators and metrics for inventory optimization, assisting with drug shortage ADC management, ADC hardware concerns, upholding medication safety around appropriate ADC medication storage, and orienting new staff to the use of ADCs. The Pharmacy Automation Coordinator will exemplify the Rush Mission, Vision and Values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. Other information: * Required Job Qualifications: * Demonstrates outstanding competence in both written and verbal communication skills. * Possesses excellent interpersonal skills. * Demonstrates a high level of competency in troubleshooting and maintaining automated equipment. * Demonstrates competency in generating and analyzing reports. * Successfully reviews and improves the quality of service to be provided by maintaining automated equipment in its most efficient state. * Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB). * Familiarity with PC computer-windows based applications, spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (Word). Preferred Job Qualifications: * Some college level coursework. Responsibilities: * Review metrics for inventory optimization and adjust ADCs in coordination with the pharmacy operations team in alignment with Rush goals and objectives. * Follow-up on refill activities and spot check equipment contents for filling accuracy and compliance with the refill, inventory and outdating procedures. * Assist the operations team with policy and procedure development and troubleshooting guide for ADC operation and usage. * Troubleshoot equipment hardware problems by utilizing parts and backup equipment maintained onsite. Seek resolution either by repairs internally or by calling for service and coordinating system repairs. * Monitor hospital wide ADC medication refrigerator temperatures. Follow-up on all out-of-range readings to ensure appropriate medication cold storage and medication integrity. * Prepare, move and decommission ADCs, including equipment set up and installation and medication contents stocking based on hospital/unit needs. * Coordinate the implementation of ADC hardware and software updates. * Respond to end user issues with ADC including maintenance, troubleshooting and general staff education. * Orient all new pharmacy staff to ADC procedures and troubleshooting as well assist with educating interprofessional colleagues as needed.
