About the JobMaterials Lab TechnicianLocation: Plano, TX (100% Onsite) Must be localSchedule: Full-timePay Rate: $28 - $30 DOEIndustry: Automotive / Engineering / Materials TestingAbout the Opportunity: Join a leading organization focused on innovation and advanced materials engineering. This role supports materials testing and quality initiatives within a technical laboratory environment. Ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, precision, and problem-solving.What You'll Be Doing: Translate analytical requests into sample preparation, equipment setup, testing, and reportingPerform material evaluations using standardized testing methodsCollect, analyze, and document data with accuracy and consistencyMaintain lab safety standards and workplace organizationIdentify abnormalities and communicate findings to engineering teamsSupport preventative maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of lab equipmentAssist in root cause analysis and corrective action effortsMust-Have Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience2 to 5 years of experience in an analytical lab or materials testing environmentExperience operating highly sensitive analytical lab equipmentAbility to apply technical standards such as ASTM, ISO, or similarStrong Microsoft Office skills, especially ExcelProven ability to collaborate with engineering and technical teamsAbility to troubleshoot testing processes and equipment issuesKey Requirements (Work Environment): 100% onsite role based in Plano, TXWork performed on a laboratory shop floor with exposure to machineryComfortable working in enclosed, environmentally controlled lab spacesAbility to meet physical demands, including moderate bending and lifting up to 40 lbsPreferred Qualifications: Associate degree in Materials Science or related field, or equivalent lab experienceExperience working with chemicals and/or in a test lab environmentExperience with tools such as SEM, XRF, EPMA, FTIR, Gas or Ion ChromatographyExperience with tensile testing, hardness testing, metallography, or materials analysisExposure to plastics, resins, paint, sealer testing, or salt spray testingExperience using Keyence microscopes or machine shop toolsDuration: Long-term contract opportunity with potential for extension based on business needs
