General Job Information JOB SUMMARY This position is in the School Behavioral Health Program (SBHP), Child, Adolescent and Family Services Division (CAFS), Behavioral Health Authority (BHA), with the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support for both prevention and some early intervention activities to students in both DC Public Schools and DC Public Charter Schools. The School-Based Prevention Specialist works as a member of the mental health team in assigned schools and assists in determining appropriate programming based on school need. Develop relationships within the school community with teachers, support staff, students, and families to increase probability of successful implementation of programs. Work as a member of the school mental health team and collaborate with school staff to schedule various programs in different classrooms. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Candidates must have completed a full four (4) year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in an academic field relating to health science or allied sciences pertinent to the position. In addition to meeting the basic requirements, this position requires one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience, which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled. EDUCATION Bachelor's degree with a major study in an academic field relating to health science or allied sciences pertinent to the position. WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT The work is performed in a school setting. Travel may be required for meetings. AREA OF CONSIDERATION Open to the Public First Screening Date April 18, 2026; And Every Two Weeks Thereafter TOUR OF DUTY 8:15 AM - 4:45 PM Monday - Friday WORKSITE 64 New York Avenue, N.E., Washington, DC 20002 PROMOTION POTENTIAL No known promotion potential Duration of Appointment: Career Service - Permanent Pay Plan, Series, and Grade: CS-0601-09 Salary: $62,158 - $80,032 per annum RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants unless the person declines the preference points. Applicants claiming "Residency Preference" will be required to maintain residency in the District of Columbia for a minimum of seven (7) years. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of employment. Position Designation: This position is deemed as PROTECTION Sensitive pursuant to Section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C.
