Position Type: Summer School Positions/ESY - Psychologist/Social Worker Date Posted: 3/26/2026 Location: John Trumbull Primary School Date Available: 07/06/2026 Closing Date: 04/16/2026 Additional Information: Show/Hide 2026 Extended School Year (ESY) School Psychologist/School Social Worker Position Title: School Psychologist/Social Worker Location: John Trumbull Primary School Position Reports To: Interim Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services/ Building Administrator Job ID: #2536 Internal Close Date: April 2, 2026 External Close Date: April 16, 2026 Anticipated Start Date: July 6, 2026 - July 30, 2026 Required Certifications & Qualifications * Current State of Connecticut Teaching Certificate #070 as a school psychologist OR * Current State of Connecticut School Social Work Certificate #071 Preferred Qualifications * Ability to organize and coordinate work. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to professionally and effectively communicate with students, educators, parents, and community stakeholders * Patient demeanor with the ability to relate to, empathize with, and show compassion for a variety of personalities * Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon students' style of learning * Experience in behavior management and ability to manage uncooperative behaviors * Experience with students displaying social/emotional/behavioral needs Essential Skills, Knowledge Performance Abilities * Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and staff * Knowledge of Planning and Placement Team processes * Experience with conducting psychoeducational evaluations and interpreting test results * Strong communication skills to articulate programming needs and progress to students, families and school personnel * Expertise in identifying counseling needs and in the facilitation of high quality counseling services to individual students and on a small group basis Additional Duties Perform all other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services and/or the Building Administrator Terms of Employment * Monday - Thursday 8:45am - 12:15pm * Staff should be available for the full program period * Pay rate in accordance with contractual agreement All application materials must be submitted online, through Applitrack; should you have any difficulty in submitting your online application please contact (860)945-4813. * District reserves the right to close the posting if a suitable candidate is found prior to the external closing date.
