This Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist Mammography position is assigned to the Hampton VA Healthcare System Radiology Service; Mammography section within the Hampton VAMC, North Battlefield outpatient clinic. The Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist Mammography employee at this level is fully functional as a Advanced DRT and is able to carry out the assigned tasks independently. * The incumbent will have significant administrative duties, including the performance and documentation of QC required to maintain compliance with all QC and QA requirements as per VHA policy, FDA/MQSA regulations, and ACR standards in mammography, The incumbent is responsible for organizing and managing a comprehensive QA/QC program within the breast imaging section and representing the department at annual FDA/MQSA inspections * Include travel to all sites to ensure compliance with all FDA, ACR regulatory accreditations. Those duty stations will include North Battlefield, Hampton, Hampton Women's Center, and HCC2 when it comes online. * The incumbent works closely with the technologists, radiologists, clinicians, and clerical staff to assure optimum QC, efficient coordination of activities, high quality diagnostic/therapeutic exam results, and patient satisfaction. * The incumbent requires specific knowledge and training of the location, appearance, and function of the breast to interpret the examination request accurately; understands the functioning and inter relationship of the breast imaging techniques and modalities using the methods and techniques which will identify breast abnormalities on the digital display monitor or image. The incumbent understands the various stages of the examination in order to judge the acceptability of the image and/or scan for diagnostic use and emphasizes the aspects of particular interest to the physician. * The incumbent is responsible for the performance of a variety of complex mammography radiographic exams. These include, but are not limited to, screening and diagnostic mammography exams. The incumbent is responsible for the quality and quantity of imaging examinations, and for ensuring proficiency and compliance of staff to all service, facility, and accreditation standards for breast imaging * The incumbent assist with the performance of a variety of interventional breast procedures. This includes interventional breast procedures performed with radiologic, sonographic, or MRI image guidance.
