Job Overview Become a Distribution Automation Engineer 3 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you'll lead the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of advanced automation software solutions such as DVVC, TDRL, FLISR, LVM, and DERMS within GMS/ADMS initiatives. You will oversee projects from pilot through full-scale implementation, collaborating with cross"‘functional teams and vendors to ensure technical excellence, operational readiness, and safety compliance. You will serve as a subject matter expert in automation software, driving innovation through root"‘cause analysis, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring engineering peers. Primary Duties Advanced application settings development and maintenance. Develop and publish deployment schedules. Performance monitoring and device coordination evaluation. Power quality and compliance support. Operational training and deployment support. Tool, process, and documentation support. Contract engineering resource leadership and coordination. Responsibilities Ensures technical issues and problems are resolved in a timely, efficient, and cost"‘effective manner utilizing available resources. Supervises, leads, and coordinates work with full"‘time and contract employees in the execution of new technical strategies, equipment, or standards. Conducts life"‘cycle assessments for utility infrastructure materials and processes; improves preventive maintenance procedures to decrease overall downtime. Conducts risk assessments and implements risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of engineering projects. Supports audits and inspections; ensures compliance with relevant environmental, health, safety, and regulations. Provides engineering and technical expertise and guidance for the identification, analysis, and resolution of high"‘impact, complex, and/or cross"‘functional problems. Ensures the engineering facility design basis is controlled and design"‘basis documentation is maintained; conducts engineering studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating high"‘impact complex projects. Provides support and technical training to junior engineering levels. A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field. Five or more years of experience in engineering within operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. Possess a valid Class C Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications Experience with distribution equipment, system design, operation, and analysis including integration with Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS). Advanced experience in coding in VBA, SQL, or Python. Experience with power system transmission or distribution analysis tools such as OMS, DMS/DSCADA, EMS, and CYME or similar software. Experience in power system engineering analysis including knowledge of applicable laws, standards, and codes. Project management experience. Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non"‘technical audiences. California EIT certificate or Professional Engineer license. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Microsoft Power Apps. Additional Information This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Work mode details will be discussed at the interview stage and may change based on business needs. The primary work location is Santa Ana, CA, but the candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at an alternate work location. Position will require up to 10% traveling and field work throughout the SCE service territory. This position is a NERC/CIP impacted position. Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training before gaining un"‘escorted access to the assigned work location and performing necessary duties. Relocation may apply.
