Job Details This position is a full"‘time, non"‘exempt, remote underwriting role. The analyst will evaluate consumer home loan applications"”including Conventional, Jumbo, FHA, VA, and USDA first mortgages"”using both manual and automated underwriting systems. The role reports to the Underwriting Team Manager and does not include supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities Perform mortgage credit analysis with or without an automated underwriting system. Apply FNMA and Fannie Mae/ Freddie Mac guidelines and general documentation standards. Verify and maintain accurate loan application information in the system of record. Review income, asset, credit, title, value, and fraud reports. Ensure all required property information is captured. Confirm loans meet Plaza's underwriting guidelines. Obtain credit reports and government"‘required documents. Review title information and purchase contracts as needed. Utilize fraud"‘prevention tools such as FraudGuard and Early Check. Run and interpret DU/LP/GUS/Total ScoreCard when applicable. Document all data and certify system integrity. Underwrite selected loan types (Conventional, Jumbo, FHA, VA, USDA) based on authority levels. Maintain production standard goals. Act as FHA DE and/or VA Automatic and SAR Underwriter when authorized. Order and review mortgage insurance based on loan program. Approve or deny loans and record decisions with P.A.C.E comments. Re"‘underwrite loans upon receipt of additional information. Second"‘sign loan decisions for lower"‘authority underwriters when required. Provide training and mentoring to junior and newly hired senior underwriters. Answer underwriting scenario and guideline questions via email and phone. Complete underwriting worksheets and checklists (Income, QM/ATR, etc.). Assist in resolving branch post"‘closing suspense issues. Analyze complex income tax returns to determine qualifying income. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Recent underwriting experience in the mortgage industry. Experience with FHA, VA, or USDA loan programs. Solid knowledge of state and federal regulations"”including HMDA, Regulation"¯Z, Regulation"¯B, and FHLMC, FNMA, FHA rules and processes. Proficiency with loan origination systems such as DataTrac. Familiarity with paperless file environments and image"‘software repositories. Computer literacy: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web browsers. Strong customer"‘service orientation. Excellent organizational and problem"‘solving skills. Team"‘player with self"‘motivation for independent work. High"‘school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. Experience with automated underwriting systems (AUS). Working knowledge of loan"‘program products, services, and policies. Work Environment This is a remote position.
