Mortenson is currently seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our Solar group with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Environmental Specialist will support Mortenson's environmental management efforts for Civil, Solar, Wind and High Voltage Transmission Groups' projects throughout North America, providing review of environmental documentation, and advising on environmental matters in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures.Do you have environmental compliance experience identifying and disposal of hazardous waste, and managing & preventing contamination of soil, water, and air? This role involves developing and implementing environmental programs at Mortenson's solar project worksites.Location: Must be open to any location in the continental United StatesTravel: This is a regional position that will be supporting projects in a specified area. Preference for candidates located in AZ, TX, or NM. This is a 100% travel position. Mortenson hires for a career and not a project.ResponsibilitiesImplement and administer the environmental program at each work site.Assist project management team in developing and executing site specific environmental plans and activitiesParticipate in and contribute to project planning and environmental risk analysisReview environmental submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with subcontractorsMonitor and review trade partner work plans and activities for environmental concerns Assist with implementation of policies and procedures and ensure compliance with all environmental regulationsAttend, develop and lead environmental orientation and training programsAssist in the development of company-wide environmental management support programs Monitor implementation of environmental mitigation measuresConduct work site environmental inspectionsRecord, monitor, and analyze environmental statisticsDocument and track all environmental violations, non-compliance conditions, etc. Conduct project's leading and trailing indicator data/document collection and trend analysesConduct or assist with incident analysis and responseCollaborate with customers on regulatory (Federal, State, Provincial, and Local) reporting and documentation requirementsProvide resource of environmental related informationEvaluate and offer solutions for environmental risksMaintain operational knowledge of environmental issues in construction, US EPA, ASTM, and other applicable standards, regulations, laws, and proceduresServe as resource for environmental issues or concerns for all project team members Attend and/or chair environmental meetingsCommunicate with various third parties including the customer's environmental personnel, environmental consultants, regulatory representatives, insurance representatives, etc.Accompany environmental, health and safety, insurance and regulatory personnel on work site toursEnsure maintenance and inspection of environmental equipmentAssist the Project Manager with the management of the environmental budget allocated for projectEffectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsQualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Biology, or related fieldMinimum of four years related experienceSignificant experience with two or more of the following areas: erosion prevention and sediment control, storm water pollution prevention plans, spill prevention controls and countermeasures, wetlands, endangered speciesExperience managing hazardous waste and contamination complianceExperience with natural gas or oil is preferredStrong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial and local laws, policies and proceduresA well-organized and self-directed individual who is collaborative and a team playerAbility to interact with consultants and governmental agenciesAbility to use PC, tablets and widely used software packages, e.g., spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (MS Word)Current driver's licenseAble to travel up to 100%A Few Benefits Offered Include(for Non-Craft & Non-Union Craft working 25+ hours / week)Medical and prescription drug plans that includes no additional cost vision coverageDental plan401k retirement plan with a generous Mortenson matchPaid time off, holidays, and other paid leavesEmployer paid Life, AD&D, and disability insuranceNo-Cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work-life resourcesTuition reimbursementAdoption AssistanceGym Membership Discount ProgramThe base pay range for this role is $89,500 - $120,800. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
