Perform hands"‘on relay testing using sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150; typical devices include SEL"‘311L, SEL"‘387, SEL"‘487, SEL"‘421, SEL"‘351S, GE L90, GE D60, and comparable models. Own scope for substation P&C testing/commissioning, including outage planning and execution. Plan sequences and coordinate demolition/construction/testing outages in live utility environments. Develop isolation strategies that enable safe work without unintended operations or trips. Direct electricians, relay techs, and commissioning engineers to deliver installed, tested, and energized protection and SCADA systems; provide on"‘site leadership. Reconcile bill of materials on arrival; flag shortages and coordinate with design. Verify field wiring against design drawings; create and track RFIs for design or implementation issues. Validate SCADA and DFR point lists with system operators; record results and close gaps. Contribute to technical growth and safety culture; complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs). Attend on"‘site and virtual project meetings; collaborate with PMs and clients to mitigate risks and resolve scheduling conflicts. Maintain redlines/as"‘built records and deliver complete test packages and documentation. Handle project administration: time entries, expenses, and status reports. Required Background 5+ years in electrical testing/commissioning, covering MV/HV breakers, power and instrument transformers, and substation P&C. Exposure to utility operations, substation construction, outage coordination, and commissioning workflows. Proven capability with transmission, substation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families) and protection schemes. Demonstrated experience validating P&C wiring in the field. Technical proficiency with protective relays: calibration and testing (Omicron CMC 256/356, Doble F6150), control"‘scheme verification, CT/PT circuit checks, settings uploads to microprocessor relays, and both static/dynamic testing. Working knowledge of relevant standards and practices (NETA, IEEE, NFPA). Familiar with testing on distribution, generation, and transmission installations from ~15 kV up to ~500 kV, including relays, breakers, transformer controls, SCADA, and DFRs. Experience executing brownfield retrofit work (relays/equipment). Excellent verbal/written communication; detail"‘driven with strong analytical and math skills. Comfortable with computers, relay software/microprocessor interfaces, and common project tools. Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; able to manage drawing sets. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ lb with or without reasonable accommodation. Willingness to travel up to 80%. Preferred Qualifications B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technology discipline. Hands"‘on testing/commissioning of substation equipment such as CTs, CCVTs, PLCs, and DC systems (batteries/chargers).
